Looking into Cat Talents.

So I'm about to start slamming down druid levels as I try to level my druid as fast as possible.

In the meantime today is slow at work so I'm researching Kitty Talents. Here is what I'm thinking in the order that I intend to get them:

5/5 Ferocity
3/3 Thick Hide
2/2 Brutal Impact
2/2 Feral Swiftness
3/3 Sharpened Claws
2/2 Primal Fury
3/3 Predatory Strikes
1/1 Faerie Fire (Feral)
2/2 Savage Fury
2/2 Shredding attacks
5/5 Heart of the Wild
1/1 Leader of the Pack
2/2 Improved Leader of the Pack
3/3 Survival of the Fittest
5/5 Predatory Instincts
1/1 Mangle

At this point I've spent 42 points in Feral. Then I spend:

Restoration (14 points)
5/5 Furor
5/5 Naturalist
3/3 Natural Shape Shifter(powershiftin baby)
1/1 Omen of Clarity

I've now spent 56 points and am level 65. At this point I'm sorta lost. I was thinking:

1/1 Feral Charge
2/3 Feral Instinct
2/2 Nurturing Instinct

As I' should have a ton of AGI at this point and I like N.I.

But I'm not fully sure. Anyways I wanted input if you've got it. I'm currently level 18 and waiting on someone to get TWO more levels before I start power leveling.

Not sure if this was one of the places you looked or not, but BBB did a Shifting Perspectives article on leveling a while back.

You know I thought I took my list from that article but I dont' remember reading anything about the respec at 50 to mangle so I obviously didn't. Headed back there now.

Dangit....Wind's gonna gimme hassle about not 'really' reading his blog when I say I do.

There's a good guide stickied on the WoW druid forums too. I'd recommend getting OOC sooner, it helps a lot. I would not get natural shapeshifter unless you plan on doing a ton of PvP.

I'm curious why its a pvp talent?

I thought of it as well I'm going to be converting mana to energy by shifting out and back into catform so making that mana cost as small as possible seems like a good idea.

Hi dammerung -
I would put the first five points in furor; it will delay mangle until level 55 but being able to get 10 rage as a bear is really worth it, I think. As a cat, instant 40 energy is a wonderful thing and later it allows you to shift to bear and feral charge immediately.

In my opinion, you are correct in thinking that powershifting is useful and therefore anything to reduce the mana cost is good. What I would suggest, though, is to think about how often you would powershift and how long outside the 5 second rule you would be. Personally, I have 2 points in this talent and next respec will make it three. I suppose because although I am a feral build I really like the healing I can do as well so mana conservation is a consideration for me.

Finally, I would suggest points in primal tenacity with its resistance to stun and fear mechanics. I did not originally spec into Nurturing Instinct although I am now. I am not sure if I will keep it but I have found it helpful.

Tankspot also had a druid leveling guide. It's pretty detailed in terms of allocating talent points and planning attack rotations.

Furor is really the best talents to go for until lvl 50 when you can respec to mangle if you wish - that 40 energy straight off *really* makes things go faster, especially is you end up shifting out to heal ;)

A druid in PvP will usually have to shift constantly to take advantage of their different abilities, and to get out of snares.

In PvE, you are probably not going to be switching as frequently.

Re: Natural shapeshifter -- I have found that if I'm not tanking, I tend to shift an awful lot for the mana pool of the typical cat and natural shapeshifter is very valuable. After all, if you are kitty, you'd better be adding some utility to the raid that they don't get with a rogue, who will do a heck of a lot more damage than you in equivelent gear. Which means spot heals, random dots, roots & cyclones, and hurricanes, from time to time. In Kara cat gear, with buffs, you'll probabaly be around 5k mana, so saving 30% on shifting is that much more utility you have.

Now, if you are tanking, you almost never leave bear. So you don't have to worry about it.

Guildless.

Me and Wulfa are now guildless. This came as kinda a shock and with no communication from the deciding party. I'm currently looking for a guild for us. We are not "raiders" and will never be. We do research our gear and fights and in general our classes. We are looking for a guild that we can be a part of, chat with, and not be expected to raid or be on specific times. I think that means we're looking for a "social" guild. We are primarily alliance but once finances get squared away(aka my bonus arrives) we could possibly convert to horde. If anyone knows of any guilds that they would recommend please let us know.

On being Horde.

Obviously we no longer play Horde side. Wulfa has a 70, 45, 32 and numerous other alliance alts now. I've got a 63, 46, 20, 16, 11, 8, 8 Alliance side(all my alliance alts are new since we moved over to Kael'thas, wulfa's playing two characters that already existed before our horde characters were started). But we are two and a half ORCS. Not two and a half random alliance characters. This makes it hard sometimes when I see links to my site or I see a horde shaman etc. It is kind of like going back to your home town and seeing people you used to know and they ask you how your ex-girlfriend is doing. They don't know you split up. You don't really want to talk about it. Etc. Sometimes I think fondly about getting on my Horde shaman and leveling a bit. Nothing ever comes of it. And even less will in the future as I get further and further away from wanting to play those toons. There are things I like on the Alliance side. I like the Dreanai. A lot. Even th...
