No running

So today I was supposed to run. However I got only 3 hours sleep before 8am and by the time I had caught up around 11am Wulfa was still feeling horrible. So no running.

*if* I don't catch whatever horrible thing she has then I plan to run tomorrow if she's feeling better.

Sickness sucks.

So I'm gonna duck out now.

Go read Elizabeth Moon's Remnant Population. Its always been one of what I consider to be the best hard sci-fi books. Mostly due to the protagonist.

For fun simple scifi where the good guys win with lovely white hats and all, try Weber's "Off Armageddon Reef" and the sequel "By Schism" somethign something something.

"Flash" by Modesitt was happily about a guy who does stuff he -knows- is wrong/evil because a greater evil will result if he doesn't. I enjoyed it. But I like most of Modesitt's books.

Weber and Modesitt both mostly write books I can only recomend for entertainment value and not for literary or thought provoking purposes. It doesn't stop me from loving the simple good guy wins stories. It's kinda like finding out you LIKE cheep beer. You shamefully gulp each and every horrible drop.

I feel the same about most of Moon's stuff but Remnant is awesome.

I like some of Moon's stuff....and normally Weber is not bad. But for some reason, the book you mentioned, just was not fond of.....but that is just one person's opinion. Nice to see I am not the only person who plays WoW AND reads. Sometimes it feels like a literary wasteland in the game. They can quote movies extensively, but make a literary quote and most of them are lost!

Guildless.

Me and Wulfa are now guildless. This came as kinda a shock and with no communication from the deciding party. I'm currently looking for a guild for us. We are not "raiders" and will never be. We do research our gear and fights and in general our classes. We are looking for a guild that we can be a part of, chat with, and not be expected to raid or be on specific times. I think that means we're looking for a "social" guild. We are primarily alliance but once finances get squared away(aka my bonus arrives) we could possibly convert to horde. If anyone knows of any guilds that they would recommend please let us know.

The Cat is Out of the Bag

I wonder where that expression comes from? There is this fabulous book that can tell you, only I forgot the name of it. Next time I come across it I think I'm going to have to buy it. Anyway. I was going to wait. A long time. Maybe forever. I don't like people coming up and hugging me, smiling and saying congratulations, or asking me questions. But Damm was talking to his recruiter about insurance. And he mentioned something that he should've told the recruiter was non-repeatable, because 5 minutes later the recruiter told Damm's mother (I have no earthly idea why he's talking to her-I keep forgetting to ask). After that I had to tell my mother. We haven't told any extended family members because there are quite a few here celebrating Damm's mother's graduation and that would be the worst form of torture I can imagine. So yeah, I'm knocked up again :P And this time I'm getting the t-shirt. "It" is due August 11. I have not been to a doc...

Programming.

Someone enlighten me. I keep running into this idea with certain people I talk to. "Why are you charging me for this custom program? It has already been written for another bank. All of the work is already done." I've tried explaining that programs are like books. Even though you only wrote it once you charge it multiple times. I've tried explaining that custom programs are like our software product. You have to pay for YOUR copy, even though we've already written and sold copies to other people. The last person I tried to explain this to told me that I "shouldn't argue with the customer". /sigh This isn't a complex idea.
