I's a dork.

So the metallic taste in the mouth, the dizzy spells-Ketosis. It's what the body does when you go on a low/no carbohydrate diet. The body starts burning fat exclusively .... some people think this is a bad thing, others are rather gung-ho about the fat-burning. I dislike my mouth tasting funky. Hopefully, since I've moved on to Phase 2 of our lovely diet, the taste will go away.

I was asked a while back about my opinion on the Zone Diet. My very first thought ever about that diet was "percentages? way to complicated. I can't do that diet." Nevermind that I can tell you the caloric value of most foods we Americans come in contact with. Or that every year I buy the new and updated Calorie King pocket reference book. Basically (and I went to the website to refresh my memory) it's about creating a desirable balance between all your hormones. When you compare the Zone, South Beach, Mediterranean, Perricone Prescription, and several others, you'll find they're similar. No extreme crash diets (other than an induction phase in some). You can feasibly stay on it for the rest of your life because it's a way of life rather than a diet ...... at the end, choose what works for you. That'll be the right diet. Just please, don't pick Atkins. I really don't like that diet. I remember the day I heard the dude who authored that had died .... I was in the diet/nutrition aisle shelving. At first it sounded like he had died of a heart attack and I about doubled over in laughter (that sounds so harsh-it was terrible that he died). And then I remembered that someone had died and you don't laugh when that happens .... (btw, consult your doctor before beginning any diet or exercise program. All information comes from a non-nutrition type person who just happens to like reading about all things diet/food/exercise)

My small town needs a bookstore. I want to read "Grunts." And I want to read it today. I'm gonna bet our little local library doesn't have it. I don't feel like driving an hour into our "big town." I NEED TO LIVE IN A CITY DANGNABBIT.

The Orclette and I are bored. One of my awesome WoW friends needs to move here for a couple of months so we have someplace to go and be entertained :D And then you need to move with us to NM.

I'm such a sedentary person. When I'm not running, lifting weights, or playing sports, I'm sitting on my butt in front of the t.v. or reading. I don't like the great outdoors (though hiking can be fun ..). I don't like gardening. If given a choice I'll sit inside rather than outside. Hopefully Orclette will inherit her dad's love of walking, my love of competing, his love of meditating (that's what I call the hours he spends staring at walls, lost in thought), and my love of being by myself, my very chatty personality, and her dad's desire to make everyone in the room comfortable and at ease. I'm not sure how that ties in with being sedentary ..... it doesn't, really. I'm totally rambling.

I'll stop the madness and end my post here :D

How big of a city do you want to live in? I lived in what I'd call a big city (Tampa) and grew to loathe it... traffic, pollution, crime... ugh. Give me a small town any day. As long as it has cable and internet access, I'm fine. *grin*

I'm not sure why you are so against Atkins. From the sounds of South Beach, Atkins is just slightly more restrictive on carbs, but it's the same basic principle I think. I agree that most people that do Atkins suddenly go haywire and only seem to latch on to the 'protein is king' mentality and go hog wild (I'm here all night folks!) on bacon and ham, etc. But I think it also pretty much ends up where all the other 'balance' diets do, just has a harsher start.

I'm definitely a diet 'junky' if you will. I'm currently trying out the Master Cleanse with a friend. It's definitely much more 'new agey' than anything else I go for, but I've heard some good things about it from friends so thought I'd give it a shot. After 2 weeks though, it's back to a zone-ish diet but going to try and remove all caffeine and fake sugars (the main reason I'm trying the cleanse).

I hear ya wulfa..I live in a town of 400, practically a suburb of a town of 2000, and drive an hour into kansas city for work each day. luckily this gives me access to Barnes and Noble on a fairly regular basis.

@ arms and fury: my dislike of Atkins is mostly because the people I knew who went on the diet lost quite a bit of initial weight but were unable to sustain the lifestyle afterwards, which is not the diet's fault, to be fair. It also just seems soooo unhealthy to me-but, if it works for someone and they're able to work it into an overall healthy lifestyle then I cheer them on.

@Papersmith: you totally live close to us! KC is only 3 hours away, I think.

CORRECTION

I don't know why I saw Gaddrick and thought "Arms and Fury," but I did. So, previous comment should read @ Gaddrick. And many congratz on sticking with a master cleanse-I don't think I'd have the willpower :)

RAMBLY Political Responses.

Sub-Teach, On monday, I had about 80% of this written as a reply to your comment before I figured I should just drop it into a post. Yay for thought spam from simple commentary. To be clear: I'm not anti-our-current-president. I didn't like his solution for the recession(the bailout(which was started by our previous president)) but I'm certainly not blaming the recession on him. I understand that it was my dear party that thought you could spend AND cut taxes at the same time. I'm not really in favor of the way in which the other party wants to extend the tax cuts(cutting some and not others). I would rather we let all of the tax cuts expire and everyone equally paid a little bit more. BUT I'm really not happy with the idea that we can extend all of them when we are in record levels of national debt, which is what my party espouses. No our current president didn't have much time to fix the economy...and any good/harm he did probably won't be evident

A post!

So Beowulfa recieved the Burning Crusade as one of her many christmas presents. As a side note, she also recieved a picture of a chick with a pet lion. Sort of like Angharad. Anyways, we're poking Drenai characters in a "ooo that would be cool" kind of way. Since it was her birthday present and all... and if the characters were not BElf or Spacegoat then it wouldn't be using the present! So we're going to at least get them to 10. And BElf's are too... pretty in an ugly way. I don'ts like them. She doesn't like them(much?). I said Spacegoat. She quickly created a male drenai priest(this morning). We talked about it at lunch and she's going to make a paladin instead, I think. I slightly warned her off of priest because I've heard they solo about as well as a warrior heals. I'm.... undecided. We have warrior, paladin, mage, priest, shaman, hunter. I've been told I need to be something tankish. So mage and priest are gone. I'm definin
