Miniorc?

I guess I can call him miniorc. He's much cuter than any orc, however. Pictures -might- be forthcoming but I'm currently using a dinosaur of a PC and I'm not sure how to upload pictures (I'm a computer-know-nothing of the worst order). He was born at 8:57 p.m. Tuesday. 7 pds 12 oz: I was expecting a 9 pd baby and was somewhat surprised at his small size. Perfectly healthy, seems to be more placid than the Orclette ever was (thank God). First few nights have been rather rough-he is a breastfed baby and at first could not seem to keep his tummy full so he was up every hour to eat (it takes a couple days for the supply to come in to meet the demand). And I don't care what the books tell you, breastfeeding hurts for at least a little bit. So the every-hour feeding took its toll on me. And the Orclette, who sleeps in the same room, was at first waking up everytime Miniorc did and crying just as loudly as he. Last night, however, Miniorc slept from 9pm-12, was awake and e...

Brendan must be just like Damm

Still pregnant. Fortunately everyone we know is calling/texting my mom everyday to find out the status and not me. I think I would've hit a few of them, if I could reach into the cell phone to do that. Anyway, I think the little boy must be just like Damm. You see, Damm is rarely in a hurry. I am. I'm ready to go and out the door and-oh wait-Damm doesn't even have his shoes on yet. He probably is still on the internet with just one more site to check. The Orclette knows something is up. You see, I did go into labor early Saturday morning. Labor- not Braxton Hicks. And then it stopped 6 hours later. Since then I've been having intermintent contractions-again, not Braxton Hicks (I'm talking painful, this-is-what-drove-me to ask for pain meds with the Orclette contractions). So this has been one weird experience so far. I googled to see if anyone else had similar experiences and yep, they have. Some have even had odder stories than mine. They don't ever tell you...

Still considering the jumping

In the wee hours of Tuesday morning I had some hard Braxton-Hicks contractions. To my immense disappointment they stopped (thus making them BH contractions) and haven't resumed. Nothing last night ... so I'm still waiting. This is the HARDEST part. Though I don't want an induction I fully understand why people schedule them. Having a concrete date that it will all end is such a relief (my doctors won't let me go past 42 weeks without inducing but I'm praying and cannot accept that it will go that far). Damm meant to post over the weekend but didn't have time. He was a hero and took over another dude's assignment so that dude could leave base to spend time with his wife and kid :D He hasn't had surgery yet but has a consultation next week. I sent him The Mortal Instrument series and he finished it off in one day. Sigh. I think I paid $12 to ship it. It should've taken him longer. But he has access to a library so I shouldn't have to pay too much ...

Couldn't sleep

I couldn't sleep. Woke up at 3:30 am, realized that I felt normal and wasn't having contractions, and wanted to throw a nice big fit. Ate my morning chocolate to console myself and completely forgot that early in the morning the caffeine from the chocolate makes my heartrate go up-thus making sleep impossible. So I'm sitting at the computer. I've checked gmail, dabbled on facebook, and currently am wondering how Damm can surf the internet for hours . I'm out of stuff to do in 20 minutes. Today I'm dragging the brother-in-law along to go see G.I. Joe with a friend of mine+her mother+her friends. Too many girls scare me. Too many girls is a good thing for single bro-in-law :D Plus bro-in-law will have no problems waiting until the end of the movie to drive me back if labor happens to start whereas friend might panic and insist. But really, there's no point. Not unless it starts out extremely fast and hard. Might as well sit back and enjoy the movie. And the po...

No Baby Yet

Still waiting. But time flies when you're having fun, and having my mom here is fun. We've organized my room (to accomodate the influx of baby stuff) and are moving on to other areas of the house. My mom is a pack-rat and I've inherited her genes so we both need help to get rid of stuff :D We've gone to the campus so I can walk and she can run-and discovered the Orclette ADORES "runnin!" She'll do a running man imitation everytime she wants to "I go runnin!" We've also gone to the pool. My mom is a lifeguard, tri swim coach and I think sometime in her life she's taught classes so she's one of the safest people to introduce Orclette to the water. The Orclette thinks the pool is the GREATEST thing ever and cries when it's time to leave. I sit sedately by the pool and read/watch. I really don't like the water. Fortunately Damm does so when he gets back he and the Orclette will have great times splashing in the pool. I've been...

Food food food

I'm hungry all the time. Forget ladylike portions. Give me Hungryman-sized portions. /sigh. Not really. Hand over the child's-sized meal. Lately I think all my time has been spent gaining weight, even though I'm trying my darndest to not eat too much. Still walking, still spending time with my weights, but nothing can stop the growing . Well, birth will. And since my mom is getting here today that can commence at any time. I am now prepared. I was looking through pictures of when the Orclette was a mere week old. Damm was quite chubby-about 30 pds heavier than he is now. I looked like I had just been pregnant, of course. Lots of extra poundage that quickly disappeared as we discovered that the Orclette had quite an appetite. I'm counting on the same thing happening this time as I watch the scale inch closer to the 40 pds gained marker. And the Orclette was so tiny. Tiny babies scare me-bear in mind she was 8 pds 8 oz. I can't imagine a smaller baby. I'd have to ...
