A post. about quest. gear.

So its been a while since our last post.

We spent the weekend mostly trying to move. I moved my shaman over and am enhancement again and beginning to build a gear set.

chest: http://www.wowhead.com/?item=38056 Dragonblight
Bracers: http://www.wowhead.com/?item=37458 Dragon blight

Hands: http://www.wowhead.com/?item=38046 Dragonblight
Belt: Wowhead says nothing with hit rating at all for mail levels 69-73
Legs: http://www.wowhead.com/?item=37426 Borean tundra
Feet: http://www.wowhead.com/?item=38051 Dragonblight

Ring: http://www.wowhead.com/?item=39648 DTK
Ring: http://www.wowhead.com/?item=38251 Borean tundra
Trinket: There are no hit rating trinkets from wrath at levels 69-73

For weapons I'm pondering these:
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=37077
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=37072

Both from quests in borean tundra.

Total about 270 hit rating on the gear.(low level quest gear.) 88 from enchants that are available.

So roughtly 358 hit rating off of low level gear for a shammy... or 10% chance to hit.(JUST shy of 11%).

So 17% chance to hit for my shammy(1% racial, 6% talents, 10% gear) if I had all these items by the time I hit level 74. This I think would be a nice starter place to upgrade from. Maintaining 361 hit or higher will be my goal after that.

Why am I prioritizing hit so much?

"The following values assume that a level 80 enhancement shaman is about to enter Naxx:25 and is neither hit nor expertise capped.

AP - 1
Crit Rating - 1.7
Hit Rating - 3.1
Expertise Rating - 2.6
Haste Rating - 1.3
Armor Penetration Rating - 0.8
Spellpower - 0.9
MH dps - 5.9
OH dps - 2.5
Strength - 1.1
Agility - 1.7
Intellect - 1.7"

This is stolen shamelessly from EJ. I hate missing. So the plan is stack hit first(keeping 361 as my decided baseline for now)... then see where I'm at dps wise and look at what stats are hurting too much etc.

Anyways random theory crafting post to distract me from my upcoming chem lab and all the things I have to do once I get home(register the clicker, register for math homework site, register for math something else site, research tricare before going to their office tomorrow, read more calculus, read more physics and glance at homework, read chem chapter, read EE chapters).

Hit is mostly for stuff that is higher level than you are. There is a pretty substantial hit penalty for dual wielding (and a smaller one for using a two-hander), but that will apply primarily to white damage.

Since you will mostly be fighting stuff the same level or lower than you are while levling, some hit will help. However, My guess is getting 358 hit at level 70 would reduce your damage output.

Too much hit will actually lower your dps, because itmeization points used for hit might better be used for things like attack power or crit. Hit has diminishing returns as it increase, and you have to balance things to maximize your dps. To be honest, I do not have a quantitative understanding of this on my rogue, but I do have a pretty good qualitative understanding.

At the level cap I assume an enhance shaman will work much like a rogue. Rogues have three hit caps, one for spells (poison), one for special attacks, and one for white damage. The spell cap is the critical one to hit since poison contribute a lot to damage. The special attack cap is important, but not at the expense of other stats. The white damage cap is not really acheivable.

The numbers change depending what you are fighting as well. Heroic bosses are lower level than raid bosses, so less hit is needed if you are only doing heroics. Trash is lower level than bosses too.

As a rogue I made sure I had the spell cap covered at 80. As I got better gear, I worked towards the special cap. I think I am currently a couple of points under the special cap.

There's hit food and elixirs too.

Don't forget about expertise either. You need to get your expertise capped as soon as possible.

Personally, I think creating a gear list and worrying about stats when you're not 80 is pointless. Most quests won't go much faster with optimal gear.

RAMBLY Political Responses.

Sub-Teach, On monday, I had about 80% of this written as a reply to your comment before I figured I should just drop it into a post. Yay for thought spam from simple commentary. To be clear: I'm not anti-our-current-president. I didn't like his solution for the recession(the bailout(which was started by our previous president)) but I'm certainly not blaming the recession on him. I understand that it was my dear party that thought you could spend AND cut taxes at the same time. I'm not really in favor of the way in which the other party wants to extend the tax cuts(cutting some and not others). I would rather we let all of the tax cuts expire and everyone equally paid a little bit more. BUT I'm really not happy with the idea that we can extend all of them when we are in record levels of national debt, which is what my party espouses. No our current president didn't have much time to fix the economy...and any good/harm he did probably won't be evident

A post!

So Beowulfa recieved the Burning Crusade as one of her many christmas presents. As a side note, she also recieved a picture of a chick with a pet lion. Sort of like Angharad. Anyways, we're poking Drenai characters in a "ooo that would be cool" kind of way. Since it was her birthday present and all... and if the characters were not BElf or Spacegoat then it wouldn't be using the present! So we're going to at least get them to 10. And BElf's are too... pretty in an ugly way. I don'ts like them. She doesn't like them(much?). I said Spacegoat. She quickly created a male drenai priest(this morning). We talked about it at lunch and she's going to make a paladin instead, I think. I slightly warned her off of priest because I've heard they solo about as well as a warrior heals. I'm.... undecided. We have warrior, paladin, mage, priest, shaman, hunter. I've been told I need to be something tankish. So mage and priest are gone. I'm definin
