Tea

I just think it's really, really funny that something we celebrate our ancestors doing got bogged down in a bunch of red tape .... perhaps it would've went better if our modern-day protesters had done it sneakily? Like the Boston Tea Party?

And if you have no clue what I'm talking about, just check the news for a story about a tea party. I didn't read the whole article because of lack of time, but I'm thinking I agree with the protesters: spending has increased with almost every president in modern times (exception, if I remember Damm's soliloqey right: Bill Clinton) and guess who has to pay for it? And at some point enough is just enough, no matter how good the new programs are (the exception to protesting money spenditures would be if WWIII broke out. Then I think no one would be protesting ...). The money runs out. Or the tax payers get tired of forking over more and more of their money. Ya know, I think the dudes back in the 1700's protested over a tax raise of one penny ....

ANOTHER thing I found interesting, and totally proves that History majors are needed in this world. I am a conservative Christian, probably would call meself independent. Many people affiliated with those same groups are all alarmed about the states allowing/not allowing gay marriage. I think they think the end of the world is looming. BUT if you knew your history you'd know that while most practiced in Greece, homosexuality has been around for a long, long time without causing major breakdowns of society. If you are well-versed in this argument you might point to Rome and the disintegration of the family=disintegration of the empire but there were a whole lottta other factors going on there. I'd also like to point out that it wasn't until the 11th or 12th centuries that The Church (forgive me if I'm a century off-I haven't actually graduated yet :) decided to crack down on that particular practice in Europe. I don't quite know what I was trying to point out EXCEPT that whether or not you agree with it, gay marriage will not spell the end of the world. Worse things have happened (if you consider it a worse thing-I won't comment on my personal opinion unless you ask me) and civilization has survived. Heck, the Greek one survived and their traditions flourished in Italy .....

I gotta stop. I'm going to unintentionally stumble into an historical inaccuracy. Plus I think I have to go to work.

P.S. Ok, I had to come back and make sure I didn't write something that would offend anyone. Not that I'm against offending people but that was not my intention today. So, I don't think I said anything that I will regret later ... and I totally remembered where I was going with the whole "remember your history" thing so if it's still in my head after work I may pursue it. It probably won't be-I'm usually exhausted after hauling books around for 4 hours.

It's nice to know not all conservative Christians are so insecure as to see two people getting married as some sort of threat.

You're professing conservative christian and you don't know what you believe in. It's either a choice or ignorance. It's ok though, I'm not offended.

@ Doug: ah see, I need a really long post to explain fully what I meant in my post and also what I believe .. it's rather hard to condense it. And perhaps some of my views do push me out of the conservative christian camp-it's not something I've really thought about.

If i remember correctly the upset about who was loved or not didnt hit the church until post plaque europe. The need to re populate was the huge push for larger family size and more procreation

I don't have the exact documentation on it at the moment but if you read back to Sodom and Gomorah (is that how it is spelled?) The city was deeply involved in self carnal knowledge and christians consider this a prime reason that their entity destroyed the city.

RAMBLY Political Responses.

Sub-Teach, On monday, I had about 80% of this written as a reply to your comment before I figured I should just drop it into a post. Yay for thought spam from simple commentary. To be clear: I'm not anti-our-current-president. I didn't like his solution for the recession(the bailout(which was started by our previous president)) but I'm certainly not blaming the recession on him. I understand that it was my dear party that thought you could spend AND cut taxes at the same time. I'm not really in favor of the way in which the other party wants to extend the tax cuts(cutting some and not others). I would rather we let all of the tax cuts expire and everyone equally paid a little bit more. BUT I'm really not happy with the idea that we can extend all of them when we are in record levels of national debt, which is what my party espouses. No our current president didn't have much time to fix the economy...and any good/harm he did probably won't be evident

A post!

So Beowulfa recieved the Burning Crusade as one of her many christmas presents. As a side note, she also recieved a picture of a chick with a pet lion. Sort of like Angharad. Anyways, we're poking Drenai characters in a "ooo that would be cool" kind of way. Since it was her birthday present and all... and if the characters were not BElf or Spacegoat then it wouldn't be using the present! So we're going to at least get them to 10. And BElf's are too... pretty in an ugly way. I don'ts like them. She doesn't like them(much?). I said Spacegoat. She quickly created a male drenai priest(this morning). We talked about it at lunch and she's going to make a paladin instead, I think. I slightly warned her off of priest because I've heard they solo about as well as a warrior heals. I'm.... undecided. We have warrior, paladin, mage, priest, shaman, hunter. I've been told I need to be something tankish. So mage and priest are gone. I'm definin
