Whee! The Relatives are Gone!

Yeppers, we survived. The relatives are gone. Except for Damm's two brothers but they don't really count. I won't be seeing much of them anyway-I'll be working 5 days this week. This may sound ho-drum to you but to me-I just can't think about it. You see, I have no energy. This state of affairs is totally weird and foreign to me, but there it is. I will be halfway through a shift at work and want nothing but to sit down and lie on the floor. I haven't done that yet but it might still happen.

WARNING. NAME SPOILERS AHEAD.

Ok. Before I tell you the names we have chosen, let me 'xplain. The Orclette has a total of 5 names, if you count her last name. I like names. I've always liked names. One summer when I was 13 I copied the entire portion of the girl's names section out of a baby name book. Now that I think about it that was probably illegal, but that didn't occur to me then. I like the meanings, I like trying to see how they fit into their language. And as I said previously, we gave the Orclette 5 names. So we decided to carry on the tradition.

For the girl: Lorelei Tiramoira Isabella Kaylee.
Lorelei was my choice. Have you watched the Gilmore Girls? I quote that show like some people quote friends. It's my favorite show hands down. And I love the name. Means "siren," in case you were curious. Tiramoira was Damm's creation. I still can't pronounce it. And it's a combo of Tira, which I think is a derivative of Tara, which would mean "hill," and Moira=Mary and I totally forget what Mary means. Isabella. Have you read Twilight? I have. And the girl's name is Isabella. Before I read those books I liked the name. Reading them only cemented my choice. And I've lost my baby name book so I can't tell you what Isabella means. Kaylee is after Firefly's mechanic. If you haven't seen the show, you have to. It's awesome. And we both loved Kaylee.

For the boy: Matthias Justinian Xenophon Royal.
Quite a mouthful. This one is still subject to change. I just don't like boy's names. They're kind of boring. I chose Matthias because it can be shortened to Matt but it's not Matthew. We already have lots of Matthews. Justinian because I read a book about the historical Byzantine emperor and kind of liked him. Doesn't hurt that Justin is one of my beloved brother's names, either. Xenophon is Damm's choice. After the general, of course. Royal is also Damm's choice. His father and grandfather were named Roy, but I don't like that name. Turns out his dad hates that name. So he picked Royal.

So there you have it. Please be kind-I don't criticize other people's choices. At the very least not in front of them. Every name we've chosen can be shortened to a more traditional name or they have a middle name they can choose from. The initials don't spell anything weird. There is no funky alliteration. I mention this because last time around we were subject to weird looks and "why would you give a child four names? And those four names?" from people. I won't be as kind this time around. Language might fly :D

Interesting names!
Our Max is short for Maximus... the hubby's choice.

Just make sure to look out for acronyms with the initials, but I guess you already are, so I'll *duck* for saying it! :P

First off, congrats on surviving the weekend. I'm sure it's a big relief to have the house (relatively) back to yourselves again.

As far as the names go, multiple names or unique names, I don't question those. It's the names that just scream "make fun of me" that I question. I had a camp counselor once who's name was Melissa May Grow. She was about 5'1". Needless to say she was happy to escape that name when she got married.

Congrats again you three.

I like both!

Matthias rocks. Any inspiration from Redwall? Subconciously maybe?

As a person with 5 (4+1) sane as your children it normally only comes into effect when female relatives are annoyed with ma and the run the list down. The ironic part is my maternal grandfather nicknamed me and that one stuck well into my late 30's so I guess I have 6 to choose from. Best wishes to you both (adults) and prayers for a happy healthy child to go along with orclette

I like the names!
Different is good, in my mind. If we would have had a girl, the name we picked was Concordia Elise Laurena __lastname__. Concordia as the much more friendly sister of Discordia (hail Eris!). Elise for our grandmothers, etc etc. Conny for short if she needed a normal nickname.
Congrats on such wonderful and historical/mythological weighted names. I love them.

I say, lovely choices!
And congrats!
And super congrats for having a hubby who is just as into different names as you are.. I wanted Rayne for our daughter, or Zephyr, or something along those lines, and I got overruled something fierce. We eventually settled on Emily Renee and I live with it because 1. Renee is almost Rayne, and it's still something out of the ordinary and 2. My sister-in-law stole the name and gave it to one of her daughters as a middle name. Ooooooh I was MAD.

@Kelmar: You know, it might've been. I read and loved the Redwall series.

@Asara: Hehe you had every right to be annoyed. I'm sorry you weren't able to use it :(

@Maebius: Ooooh I like that name.

@Softi: Hehe don't worry, I won't try and hit you.

And thanks Squirrelz and Grai :D

I love the name Lorelei and Kaylee. The other two are pretty, but still not sure on them. For the boy's name, I have to say that I agree with Kerry. Xeonphon is a pretty cool name. THe others aren't bad either.

RAMBLY Political Responses.

Sub-Teach, On monday, I had about 80% of this written as a reply to your comment before I figured I should just drop it into a post. Yay for thought spam from simple commentary. To be clear: I'm not anti-our-current-president. I didn't like his solution for the recession(the bailout(which was started by our previous president)) but I'm certainly not blaming the recession on him. I understand that it was my dear party that thought you could spend AND cut taxes at the same time. I'm not really in favor of the way in which the other party wants to extend the tax cuts(cutting some and not others). I would rather we let all of the tax cuts expire and everyone equally paid a little bit more. BUT I'm really not happy with the idea that we can extend all of them when we are in record levels of national debt, which is what my party espouses. No our current president didn't have much time to fix the economy...and any good/harm he did probably won't be evident

A post!

So Beowulfa recieved the Burning Crusade as one of her many christmas presents. As a side note, she also recieved a picture of a chick with a pet lion. Sort of like Angharad. Anyways, we're poking Drenai characters in a "ooo that would be cool" kind of way. Since it was her birthday present and all... and if the characters were not BElf or Spacegoat then it wouldn't be using the present! So we're going to at least get them to 10. And BElf's are too... pretty in an ugly way. I don'ts like them. She doesn't like them(much?). I said Spacegoat. She quickly created a male drenai priest(this morning). We talked about it at lunch and she's going to make a paladin instead, I think. I slightly warned her off of priest because I've heard they solo about as well as a warrior heals. I'm.... undecided. We have warrior, paladin, mage, priest, shaman, hunter. I've been told I need to be something tankish. So mage and priest are gone. I'm definin
